One of the best movies in history, maybe not the best as far as special effects, but has a lot of action and a good story. I have always loved this movie and I still do. Khan is one of the best villains that Star Trek has ever had, he was in the original series in I believe episode twenty four of the first season. Even though i didnt really care for the original series and thought it was pretty silly, I still think its one of the best outstanding movies ever made. the story, the action, the technology at the time, the power of creation, the power of destruction. Genesis was the ultimate power to create life from lifelessness and the scientists whom had created it feared it could be used as a dreadful weapon to wipe out all life on a living planet and could have been used as such considering the type of Man that Khan is or was. the Synosis was that Khan and his followers were exiled on Seti-Alpha 5, a planet once luscious and full of life laid to waste after the destruction of Seti-Alpha 6 in which the shock had shifted and laid the whole world to waste. Khan wanted revenge upon one individual, Jame Tiberius Kirk and would do anything to get that vengeance, it didnt matter whom got hurt and whom got killed as long as he got his revenge upon the person whom had passed sentence on him. USS Reliant, NCC-1864, A Miranda class vessel was what he used to get his revenge upon Kirk and had acquired the the advanced, versatile, fast and well armed cruiser after hijacking it from its crew whom he and his followers had marooned on the barren Seti-Alpha 5. His plan was to get his hands on Genesis and for what means he would have used the ultimate prize for if he hadnt have activated and detonated it to kill Admiral Kirk and crew, is left to the imagination. I actually always had wondered why he didnt just ram the Enterprise with the Reliant after hijacking it, it would have been faster and easier to do, rather than the ambush and surprise attack and foolishly revealing oneself after the attack. On Khan's part, that was a mistake and obviously cost him dearly, for Kirk and crew it was an equal match and victory. The Battle in the Mutara nebula was an even match between the Constitution class USS Enterprise and Miranda Class light Cruiser USS Reliant. The Reliant although not the only Starship to ever be seen in the Star Trek Universe is the first to be revealed. With the good lines, excellent acting, good defining line between good and bad, sacrifice, control, death, comedy, battle, imagination, action, compassion and loss, this is easily one of the best movies ever made and is worth being watched because of all these facts. To his last breath Khan attempted to kill Kirk, but considering he was the villain, his attempt had failed and Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise, NCC-1701, not NCC-1701-A as I saw in a few video clips on You Tube as the Enterprise escaped the genesis detonation on the Reliant with the loss of Captain Spock whom sacrificed himself in order to save everyone onboard the enterprise. When one chooses to sacrifice themselves in order to save others, that is true sacrifice, it is easy to sacrifice others in order achieve the goal you want to achieve and not caring whom gets hurt and is killed as Khan had tried to do.
The Needs of many outweigh the needs of the few and the needs of the one. But of course, Kirk and crew risk everyone to order to bring Spock back, which to them was worth it. Overall I give five thumbs for all the reasons above. I gave the Reasons why I love this movie, the fact that it is Science Fiction and all the other facts that I have given above, another thing it that it was also ahead of its time with the Genesis device and the good story that flows with the action, The Comedy which doesnt retract from its serious parts, which most of the film is serious and bordered around a serious fact, and that is another reason why i enjoy this movie and I recommend it to anyone who loves good Science Fiction, good special effects, wonderful scenery, a beautiful story, beautiful music, good acting and well done action and battle sequenences. Well folks, thats all I can think of, when I get more into my head about this, I will type it down, enjoy.

from what I saw they always got destroyed, Reliant was the first destroyed( by the Genesis device), then there was the lantree and the Saratoga( second ship destroyed by the Borg on DS9).
Id love to see more Miranda Class ships, one of my favorite ship classes.
